Established in 2013, Alpine Community Plantation Inc. was a not-for-profit independent community based organisation. The result of an innovative public, private & community partnership – the first of its kind for Australia – ACP was responsible for the recreational, educational and community use of almost 20,000 hectares of HVP Plantations land within the Alpine Shire. The aim was to develop a nature based tourism precinct with a difference. A community run recreational space of iconic trails and the home of national and community events. A space created by community, and for the visitors and residents of the Alpine Shire.

The hub of ACP activity emerged in Mystic Park, Bright, a major drawcard for mountain bike riding, paragliding and trail running. Mystic’s operating and governance arrangements are now facilitated through an agreement between HVP and Alpine Shire Council. This evolution enables the continued enjoyment of the outdoors at Mystic, coexisting in a working forest for locally grown timber. It benefits the community, and sustains the management and resourcing for this valued recreation facility.
