Information Sharing with CFA and DELWP

Prior to this years fire season, HVP Shelley staff   hosted over 20 people from DELWP and CFA, both regional staff and local brigades for the annual Shelley Fire Day.

The day involved discussions regarding water points; the new Northern Region colour coding and labelling on HVP tracks, fire breaks and roads; fire behaviour in different aged plantations; provision of plantation map books and a visit to an active harvesting site with the opportunity to talk with operators.

Shelley Fire Day

It was great to see a number of younger CFA   brigade members on the tour with active discussion and     Information sharing taking place. Days like this improve the general understanding of fire behaviour in plantations as well as familiarisation with the roads, water points and fire breaks for locals and firefighters. Further discussion has since taken place at Shelley between HVP and the CFA     regarding a fuel reduction burning program in HVP’s custodial land later this year.
